Turkey will not give in to future coup attempts or pressure, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday.
"We will face any future coup attempts just as we have faced them
over the past 12 years and as we faced the recent coup attempt. We will
not give in to any conspiracies or pressures," Erdogan said in a speech
made before the Confederation of Turkish Labour Unions.
He went on to stress that the political factions are facing the
recent attacks collectively "because we stopped the wheel of treason.
However, these attacks will not affect us, we have grown used to them
since the February 28 [1997] coup, the organisers of which did not
commit as much immorality as we are witnessing today."
