Dozens of ISIS defectors explained why they left the terror army

Almost 60 Islamic State defectors have spoken out against the caliphate and Western governments should do more to incentivize former fighters to speak out, according to a new report by theInternational Center for the Study for Radicalization.

According to the New York Times, about 20,000 foreigners have joined jihadist groups in the Middle East over the last two years. About a quarter of those are Europeans, and it is estimated that between 25% and 40% have gone back to Europe.

The new report says that most of the defectors have gone into hiding to escape reprisal from ISIS but also to avoid imprisonment in the countries to which they are returning. According to the report, 58 defectors from Europe and Australia have now publicly spoken about their experience.

In the reasons listed as to why they became disenchanted with the jihadist group, most defectors mention the violence toward other Muslims. Two defectors who left after finding out they had been selected to be suicide bombers told the BBC that the "brutality of IS terrifies everyone," referring to ISIS (aka Islamic State, IS, ISIL, and Daesh).

A Syrian man who had initially joined a rebel group fighting the Assad regime joined ISIS when his whole tribe pledged allegiance. He told the BBC that the first stage of the ISIS indoctrination was a course on the Sharia.

"Not the principles of Islam, the principles of the Islamic State," the man said. "So they teach you the Islam they want."

He said ISIS tactics boiled down to this "If you're against me, then you'll be killed. If you're with me, you work with me. You submit to my will and obey me, under my power in all matters."

These ayat are just some of the ayat which deal with the issue of homosexuality.

Some might say that the issue of homosexuality is a sensitive issue. At first I agreed with this, but as I read more and more about the aggressive behavior of some who are pro “gay” I became incensed about the campaign to make everyone accept homosexuality as “okay”. This campaign is not only in The U.S. and Europe-it is also in Muslim countries as well.  Homosexuality is not okay. If a female relative of mine came to me and told me that she was “married” to another woman, how would I respond? I do not know how I would respond. Perhaps I would just stare at her for a few minutes and then walk away, or I might verbally blast her, than again I just might sit with her and give her a quiet but stern lecture about how homosexual behavior is unacceptable.

 Allah has made it clear, in The Qur’an, that homosexual activity is an abomination to Him. No Muslim has the right to be okay with homosexual activity. “ … Now travel with thy family while yet a part of the night remains, and let not any of you look back: but thy wife (will remain behind): to her will happen what happens to the people. Morning is their time appointed: is not the morning nigh?”( Sura: “Huud” #11; ayat #76-81)

  From what is written in The Qur’an it is clear that The Creator and The Sustainer of The Heavens and The Earth considers such behavior to be absolutely unacceptable. It is unthinkable that any Muslim would accept homosexual activity to be okay. It is not only sinful to be involved in homosexual activity, but it is also sinful to be sympathetic towards those who are involved in homosexual behavior. It is clear- from the ayat that I quoted above- that anyone who is sympathetic towards homosexuals are sinful and will be dealt with to the same degree as those who are active homosexuals.

 Should Muslims please Allah-or should we prostrate to His creatures? Of course, we should please Allah. The Dunya, this life, is a life of tests. It seems that some Muslims are failing in the tests that are being given in regard to homosexuality.

There is absolutely no God, but The God. Muhammad is the messenger of the God. Everything and everyone belongs to God. We do not belong to ourselves. Everything that we have is a trust from God-including: our bodies, our minds and our hearts. All of us do have choices, but each and every one of us will face the consequences of our choices-good or bad. Although our bodies will decay in our graves, we-ourselves- will continue to exist throughout eternity. But, what kind of existence will it be?

London, June 26 (IANS) Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Syria have released a video of beheading 12 men, accused of fighting for the rival terror groups Al Qaeda and Jaish al-Islam, media reported on Friday.

Filmed in Syrian capital Damascus, the footage shows 12 men being interviewed and paraded in front of the camera before the execution on Thursday, a report in London-based Daily Mail said.

After "confessing" to the crime of opposing IS and failing to declare allegiance to the terror group's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, every terrorist was executed by a different masked member of the Islamic State group.

The video -- titled "Repent Before Being Overcome" -- bore all the high-tech hallmarks of the terror group that other murder videos earlier have had.

In a slick bit of editing before the executions, the footage momentarily rewinds and fades into a montage of Al Qaeda and Jaish al-Islam fighters battling IS, the report said.

The overall theme of the video is along the same lines, and sends a clear signal to other terrorist groups fighting in Syria that they must declare allegiance to IS "before being overcome", report added.

While speaking directly in front of the camera, the men appeared clean-shaven a rarity for terrorists and something likely to have been intended to humiliate the men before they were killed.

Earlier, a footage was released that showed IS terrorists executing 16 Iraqi nationals on charges of "spying" for coalition forces.

GAZA, June 4 (Reuters) - Israel retaliated on Thursday for rockets fired at it from Gaza with bombing raids against three militant training camps, and a radical group sympathetic with Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks on Israel.

Witnesses and medics said the predawn attacks on two camps belonging to Hamas, which dominates the Gaza Strip, and to the smaller Palestinian group Islamic Jihad caused some damage but no casualties.

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said in a statement that Israel held Hamas responsible for the rocket attacks from Gaza "even if those doing the shooting are rogue gangs from global jihadi groups trying to challenge Hamas by shooting at us".

The rockets aimed at the Israeli city of Ashkelon and town of Netivot on Wednesday night were the second such attacks in the past week. They broke a hiatus in cross-border fire since a 50-day Israeli war with Hamas ended with an Egyptian-brokered truce in August.

A radical Islamist Salafist group posted a statement on Twitter claiming responsibility for firing the rockets. Calling itself the Omar Brigades, the group said it was retaliating for Hamas's killing of an Islamic State supporter in a Gaza shootout on Tuesday.

"We are continuing with our jihad against the Jews, the enemies of God, and no one will be able to deter us," the statement said, using the term in Arabic for holy war.

In last week's rocket fire, Gaza militants launched their deepest strike at Israel since the 2014 war, hitting near the port city of Ashdod.

Anti-Coup Alliance Denounces Political Executions

Egypt's pro-democracy national coalition condemns the illegitimate coup's intensely politicized mass death sentences and hails the martyrs' children as the pride of the homeland.

The non-violent anti-coup revolutionary movement in Egypt is escalating steadily as the military coup regime persists in its bloody and brutal practices against the patriotic Egyptian people, including extra-judicial killings, political executions in the guise of judicial rulings (by orders from the Generals), and arbitrary arrests of protesters. However, mistaken are those who believe these criminal practices will intimidate or impact the determination of Egypt's heroes, the revolutionaries.

The thundering masses – from across the social and political spectrums of the Egyptian people – that turned out today in response to the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance's call carried a message to the whole world rejecting the execution of innocent people of this homeland, vowing that the Revolution will not kneel or be cowered, that retribution will be achieved soon, and that no criminal will escape punishment.

The military junta that executed the treasonous coup d'état in Egypt, trampling democratic legitimacy and popular will in Egypt by force of arms, bears full responsibility for damaging Egypt's national security, and especially for threatening the Sinai's security.

The National Alliance condemns the crimes committed by the traitor Al-Sisi against the people of Sinai, and denounces the clumsy terror operations directed against unarmed and innocent citizens – crimes with which the junta aims to evacuate the Sinai in favor of the Zionist enemy, taken by the traitor Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi as a close and intimate friend.

The Alliance solemnly salutes the revolutionaries' resilience, selfless devotion and determination to complete the journey of the January 25 Revolution despite the junta's brutal repression.

On the World Orphan Day, the Alliance hails the martyrs' children with this modest message: "You are the pride of the nation, the joy of this homeland, the hope of the Revolution, and Egypt's bright future. Retribution will be achieved soon. We are as committed as ever to the worthy pledge we made to your fathers, and to the path of the Revolution. We will not accept no compromises with your rights. We will reclaim for you your full rights, so you can enjoy freedom in the sovereign democratic homeland your fathers wanted and sacrificed their lives for".

Memories of land and the mind

Land Day commemorates the events of 30 March, 1976 when Palestinians from the Galilee to the Negev organised a massive strike to protest against the Israeli confiscation of land, ostensibly for security and settlement purposes; many were subsequently arrested or killed. This became a central incident in the history of the struggle between the Palestinian people and the Israeli occupation. It became a day for Palestinians worldwide to honour those who have fallen in defence of our land, to assert our existence as Palestinians and to embrace our identity as such.

This year's Land Day was given little attention by the local media. Instead, the headlines focused on the release of the tax revenues that Israel has frozen over the last few months in retaliation for the admission of Palestine to membership of the International Criminal Court. Among 180,000 others, I was one of the public sector employees whose salaries had been cut by 40 per cent due to this spiteful move by Israel. The media has also expressed official Palestinian support for the Arab coalition attacking the Houthi rebels in Yemen. And, finally, the media reported that the Palestinian Authority has joined the world community in expressing concern about the environmental effect of climate change. National songs in poor taste, expressive of chauvinism rather than patriotism, were also broadcast as the media paid lip-service to Land Day.

Thus was the opportunity wasted to share a sense of common heritage with all Palestinians. The occasion was not utilised to promote national consciousness in the service of our current need to stop further land theft, rework our legacy of traumatic memories and enhance a steadfast Palestinian identity in the face of efforts to eliminate our existence. The local media instead diminishes our dreams, dwarfs our character and echoes in resonance with the void of our officialdom.

Historically most Palestinians were once farmers, devoted to the land that they owned or that had been worked by their families and communities by custom for centuries. The theft of Palestinian land involved not only displacement of such people, but also a more abstract loss of a homeland and national geography; a space where we had a specific historical and psychological existence, to which we were connected both by logic and by instinct. It is said that certain Palestinians, following the ethnic cleansing of 1948, would risk death to cross the green (armistice) line for the sole purpose of eating oranges grown on the land from which they had been expelled at gun point.

The loss of our land and subsequent stratification of varied groups of Palestinians according to their current residence and "identity" papers have combined to deal a severe blow to their connection and sense of belonging; it is an assault on the development of our personal and community identity, and a destruction of our close-knit social ties. With the loss of land, Palestinians feel ungrounded, shattered, restricted in our capacity to flourish and confined to narrow avenues of safety and survival.

In "L'Etre et le Néant" (Being and Nothingness), Jean Paul Sartre notes that "to have" (along with "to do and to be") are one of the three categories of human existence. A homeland is not tradable; it is an extended part of the self, interwoven with the climate and the landscape, the plants that grow wild, and the culture of our homeland. A homeland is a reference point around which an individual structures a significant portion of his or her reality and sense of collective identity, and in which he or she invests considerable emotional and psychological energy. However, some Palestinians assume responsibility, take the initiative of stewardship and are willing to make personal sacrifices to assert their existence as Palestinians and to work for liberation.

Having lost their homeland, many Palestinians have also lost their autonomy; we are ordered around at the point of a gun or by financial need. One man, showing me his land in Al-Walajeh, told me, "We have apricots and almonds around that wall. My father would have been killed trying to reach that land, but not me. Even under the best of conditions, farming this land would not generate what I can make if I work as a labourer for the Israelis." In the Jordan Valley, water is distributed in a way that forces Palestinians to leave their own land to work on the farmland occupied by Israeli settlements, which is more productive due to the water supply. This applies not only to land but to everything that is ours: it is possible for me to make ten times more income than I would get in the public sector in Palestine if I perform meaningless work for an NGO that sets its priorities to please a foreign donor.

Without land, we lack national sovereignty and our leadership is forced to craft its political positions with respect for regional polarisations, and we have often paid a heavy price for this. The war against Palestinians in Jordan and then in Lebanon; the predicament of Palestinians in the Gulf during the Gulf War; and the current impasse of the Palestinians in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria, are only a few of these consequences for us as pawns of regional political powers.

On 13 April, 1983, Rafael Eitan, the former chief of staff of the Israeli Army (and then a member of the Knesset) commented on the objectification of the Palestinians: "We declare openly that the Arabs [meaning Palestinians] have no right to settle on even one centimetre of Eretz Israel... Force is all they do or ever will understand. We shall use the ultimate force until the Palestinians come crawling to us on all fours." Because this objectification is so ingrained in the minds of the Israelis, we frighten and shock them when we reclaim our subjectivity. Recently, I was stopped at a checkpoint on my way to Jerusalem. Seeing food in my car, the soldier shouted, "You cannot pass, this is not lawful." He was dumbfounded when I replied calmly, "It is your presence here that is against international law, not me bringing food from my workplace to home." Then he called for reinforcements to express extreme hostility and aggression in reaction to my remarks.

Our minds are not only flesh and blood; they are also the sum of our thoughts, feelings and actions. They are influenced by the surrounding context. Oppressive social conditions cause psychological oppression; the expression of anger, protests and revolt may be the optimal reactions to military, economic and political control. We are trained to suppress our thoughts and feelings in the face of chronic coercion; to accept our subjugation; to conform numbly to power; and to swallow our anger and our pain. In the end, these things are transformed into a sense of humiliation and self-loathing; our awareness is disoriented and our very being is destroyed. We displace onto each other and onto ourselves these fragmented reactions. Our humiliation is expressed in inertia, lack of confidence and inability to harness the energy needed to work effectively for our liberation; or it is expressed in a false and empty chauvinism that lacks empathy towards opponents and victims alike. All of these reactions place obstacles on the path towards liberation.

We must understand the vicious cycle of devaluation. We must recognise the oppressor's tools and develop different tools for action, such as community empowerment, respect for ethical considerations and the soliciting of solidarity and support to achieve liberation. It is essential that we develop a vision to cut through the fog that surrounds us: The liberation of the self goes hand in hand with the liberation of the land. The work of memory is a path for healing and self-liberation. With this we will stand tall and never, as Rafael Eitan claimed, will we crawl on all fours, even if they pull every inch of land from under our feet.

Palestinian police deploy near Jerusalem for first time

Ramallah (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) - Palestinian police have for the first time been deployed in three areas of the West Bank near annexed east Jerusalem, Palestinian and Israeli sources said on Thursday.

"For the first time, members of the Palestinian police wearing uniform and carrying weapons have been deployed in Abu Dis, Al-Ram and Bido," Palestinian police spokesman Louay Erzikat told AFP, saying the deployment had begun on Wednesday.

"This deployment is intended to target criminals and is the result of coordination" with the Israeli authorities, he said.

The Israeli army confirmed that Major General Roni Numa, head of the military's Central Command, had agreed to let the Palestinians open police stations in all three areas.

"The purpose of these stations is to address criminal matters as well as to maintain public order for the Palestinian population in area B surrounding Jerusalem," a spokeswoman said.

Under Oslo II, the second phase of the 1993 Oslo peace accords, the West Bank was divided up into areas of civilian and security control, known as areas A, B and C.

Area A, which covers the eight major towns and cities in the West Bank, is under full Palestinian civil and security control, while Area B, which accounts for roughly 22 percent of the West Bank, is under Palestinian civil control but Israeli security control.

Area C, which covers more than 60 percent of the occupied West Bank, is where the vast majority of Israeli settlements are located and is under full Israeli control, both civilian and security.

Iraqi counter-terrorism forces arrested four foreign military advisors from the United States and Israel who were aiding the Islamic State, Iranian Tasnim News Agency reports.

Three of the arrested military advisors are dual citizens of the United States and Israel, while the fourth advisor is from a Persian Gulf country, Iraq’s Sarma News Agency said.

The foreign military advisors were captured in a headquarters, from where the Islamic State organized its military operations in Iraq’s Northern Province of Nineveh.

An Open Letter to Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan

In the name of The God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Dear Rania Al Abdullah,

As-salamu alaikum.

As a Muslim- and as a slave of Allah- I must advise you concerning your behavior and the behavior of your husband, Abdullah ibn Hussein.

An English translation of what Allah says in The Qur’an is:

 “To Allah doth belong the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, and it is He who hath power over all things.” (Sura: Al Maida #5; ayah # 120)

“O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.”  (Sura Al Maida; ayah #51)

“Certainly they disbelieve who say: ‘Allah is Christ the son of Mary.’ But said Christ; ‘O children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord’ whoever joins other gods with Allah,-Allah will forbid him the garden, and the fire will be his abode. There will be for the wrong-doers be no one to help. They disbelieve who say Allah is one of three for there is no God except one God. If they desist not from their word, verily a grievous chastisement will befall the disbelievers among them.” (Maida; aya’an #72-73)

“Oh you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just- that is next to piety; and fear Allah. For Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do. (Sura: Maida; ayah #8)

“Oh ye who believe! If ye obey the unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back to your own loss.” (Sura: Al Imran #3; ayah # 149)

“O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied. But fear Allah-that ye may prosper” (Sura: Al Imran; ayah #130)

“Say! ‘ O Allah1 Lord of power, thou givest power to who thou pleaseth, and thou strippest of power from whom thou pleases… verily over all things thou hast power.”  (Sura: Al Imran; ayah #26)

Everyone and everything belongs to Allah. All of the earth belongs to Allah-including Jordan.  Your husband-as the leader of Jordan- has a trust from Allah for which he is accountable in front of Allah on The Day of Judgment. Your husband should govern Jordan in accordance with the teachings of The Qur’an- not against the teachings of The Qur’an. Some of his policies are against The Qur’an. Therefore, he should repent to Allah and mend his ways.

What are some of his policies which are against The Qur’an? One of the teachings of The Qur’an is justice.

“Oh you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just- that is next to piety; and fear Allah. For Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do. (Sura: Maida; ayah #8).

Is your husband just? No! He isn’t… He is a tyrant. Some of his policies are policies of tyranny. A leader should always be open to advice and criticism. Public criticism of a leader-or his policy- should not be criminalized. To criminalize such criticism is tyranny. There is a law in Jordan which criminalizes criticism. Any Jordanian citizen who openly criticizes your husband is risking the possibility of being arrested and jailed for two or three years.

When your husband first became the leader of Jordan he would speak passionately about the rights of citizens-yet, he has violated those rights time and time again. An example of this is his policy against anyone who criticizes the policy of other countries. Within the last few months a Jordanian Muslim brother-Zaki Bani Rsheid- was arrested for posting an article on the internet which criticized the government of the United Arab Emirates. This is clearly tyranny… but it is more than that. This Muslim brother was obeying Allah, and because of his obedience to Allah he was arrested!

Some other policies which are against The Qur’an include: involvement in Riba; sanctioning and supporting the tyranny of the regimes of other countries; indirectly approving of kufr through his friendship with The Pope; being involved in idolatry through not destroying statues which are in Jordan; a peace treaty with The Zionists, and involving Jordanian soldiers in situations that they shouldn’t be in.

Involvement in Riba:

Allah makes it clear in The Qur’an that trade is trade and that riba is riba. These are two completely different things. Any amount of interest is riba- even a Qursh, or Fil of interest is riba. It is not acceptable for any Muslim country to be involved in Riba -no matter how small it may be.

Jordan is involved with The IMF (International Monetary Fund). Any loans from The IMF is unacceptable. Why? Because any loan involves interest; and any interest-of any amount- is riba. Anyone who is involved with riba is risking Allah’s anger. Your husband and his administration should not get any loans from The IMF. He should stop paying any money to The IMF.

Sanctioning and Supporting Tyranny:

Al-Sisi of Egypt is a tyrant who has imprisoned the democratically elected President of Egypt. He has slaughtered hundreds (perhaps thousands) of Egyptian civilians on the streets of Egypt just because they peacefully protested against him. He has also jailed large numbers of civilians for speaking up against him; as well as journalists who dared to write the truth about what was happening in Egypt.

Your husband and his administration has approved of Al-Sisi’s behavior in two separate occasions.

 The first occasion was when your husband went to Egypt to congratulate Al-Sisi on his being “elected”. In Al-Sisi’s attempt to validate his criminal behavior he held a farcical election-an election in which more than ninety percent of the Egyptian people boycotted. In boycotting that election the Egyptians overwhelmingly rejected Al-Sisi and his behavior.

The second occasion was when Al-Sisi came to Jordan to talk to your husband about being allies in fighting against “terrorism”. Such talk is hypocritical. Al-Sisi, himself, is a terrorist. And your husband is supportive of his terrorism. Allah says in The Qur’an that anyone who is supportive of any evil shall bear the burden of that evil. Your husband is supportive of Al-Sisi’s evil-therefore, according to The Qur’an, your husband is an accomplice to Al-Sisi’s evil behavior.

Approving of Kufr:

Is your husband a Muslim? Really? Than why is he sanctioning kufr? Through your husband’s friendship with The Pope he is sanctioning kufr. Anyone who thinks that Prophet Isa (Jesus) is The God is making kufr with The God. The Pope not only is making kufr himself; but he is promoting kufr.

Involvement in Idolatry:

 There is an idol in Jordan-it is in a place called Karama. All statues are idols. Your husband and his administration should publicly destroy this idol. Prophet Muhammad destroyed the idols that were in The Kaaba. There should be no idols/statues in any Muslim country- such a thing is unacceptable.

Peace Treaty with the Zionists:

  What should I say about this? Where should I begin? Palestine is a Muslim country whose borders are from the river to the sea. The Israeli State has absolutely no legitimacy. The Israeli State is a product of colonialism. The U.N. has never had the authority to create nation-states.

The Israeli State is a mafia that has been committing state terrorism against The Palestinian people for decades. It has been stealing land and victimizing civilians-for decades!

Involving Jordanian Soldiers in Situations Outside of Jordan:

Jordanian soldiers should not be involved in any action outside of Jordan. Their involvement in such countries as: Afghanistan and Syria is irresponsible. They should not be used as expendable pawns for the agenda of The New World Order.

 What is my advice to you? You are a representative of your husband and his administration. As his representative, you are accountable in front of Allah for whatever evil he does. You should be outspoken against that evil. For example: You should be outspoken against your husband’s tyranny. If you do not speak up against it-than you are an accomplice to it.

Matthew Gardiner confirmed to be fighting Islamic State with Kurds

MATTHEW Gardiner – the vanished Darwin politico – has joined Kurdish fighters in northern Syria, a rebel group has confirmed to the NT News.

Mr Gardiner vanished from Darwin last week and was believed to be heading to join Kurdish forces fighting against Islamic State. The Australian Federal Police are investigating his disappearance.

A spokesman for the People’s Defence Units – the ­national army of Syrian Kurdistan known as the YPG – confirmed the rumours.

The NT News contacted the YPG’s media centre through the Facebook recruitment page: The Lions of Rojava. “Yes he is joined YPG,” the spokesman said.

The Lions of Rojava page is understood to be a key recruitment tool for foreign fighters wishing to join Kurdish forces involved in the Syrian conflict. The most recent fighting has occurred near Kobane, a Kurdish city under attack from ISIS and reportedly liberated in recent days.

Mr Gardiner is understood to have bought a ticket to the United Arab Emirates and was due to arrive on January 19.

It is unclear whether he reached the UAE or disembarked part-way through his journey. Security experts have told the NT News his most ­likely path to join freedom fighters in Syrian Kurdistan would be through Iraq.

Turkey lies to the near north of conflict zones in Syria, but the Kurdish Workers Party is considered a terrorist organisation in Turkey and people wanting to join the conflict are advised to avoid those borders.

A source with knowledge of other foreigners who had joined the YPG said Mr Gardiner would most likely have made his way to the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah or possibly Erbil, which are accessible on direct flights from several cities in the Middle East and Europe.

Egypt: Surge of Military Trials

(New York) – Egyptian authorities have referred hundreds of civilians to military courts based on an October 2014 decree by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. At least 820 civilians have been referred to military prosecutors in the past six weeks based on the unprecedented extension of military court authority, according to news reports compiled by Human Rights Watch.

Civil prosecutors have used the October decree retroactively, referring cases of civilians already under investigation or facing trial in civilian courts to military jurisdiction. Some had been released on bail by civilian courts.

“Curtailing the use of military courts to try civilians was one of the few tangible gains of the 2011 revolution, but that’s out the window now,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa director. “Al-Sisi’s administration is methodically reversing the reforms achieved in 2011, while the United States and other governments resume arming the government as if none of it matters.”

Egypt’s military courts operate under the authority of the Defense Ministry, not the civilian judicial authorities. The judges are serving military officers. Military court proceedings typically do not protect basic due process rights or satisfy the requirements of independence and impartiality of courts of law. Children can fall under the jurisdiction of military courts, which Human Rights Watch opposes under any circumstances.

On December 15, 2014, the Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, and other top leaders of the group, including Mohamed el-Beltagy, Essam el-Erian, and Safwat Hegazy, were among 310 defendants whose cases were transferred by the general prosecutor in the city of Ismailia. They had been on trial for rioting and inciting violence leading to the torching of the Ismailia Courts Complex in August 2013. The Egyptian authorities labeled the opposition Brotherhood a terrorist group in December 2013.

On the same day, prosecutors referred another 40 alleged supporters of the Brotherhood, to the Ismailia military court. They face charges arising from their alleged role in protests, inciting violence, and blocking roads. Eight of nine women and girls among the defendants are secondary school or university students who have been free on bail for several months. They now face possible re-arrest. Human Rights Watch could not confirm the ages of all defendants, but military courts in Egypt, unlike civilian courts, do not differentiate in their treatment ofchildren and adults.

On December 13, 2014, Egypt’s prosecutor general referred 439 people for trial by a military court on charges linked to their alleged participation in deadly violence that broke out after the military’s removal of former president Mohamed Morsy in 2013. Of the 439, 139 had been facing trial before an ordinary criminal court in the Minya governorate, while the others were being tried by an ordinary court in Beheira governorate. On December 4, 2014, the chief prosecutor of Menoufia governorate referred 26 men, including six students, to military prosecutors. They face charges of rioting and belonging to a banned organization – the Muslim Brotherhood.

In November, a Cairo criminal court judge referred five al-Azhar University students for trial by a military court because, he said, President al-Sisi’s decree meant that his court “lacked jurisdiction” to try the students who were accused of torching the university's control room in January. Another 11 alleged Brotherhood supporters in the Kafr al-Sheikh governorate were referred to military court trials on charges that relate to events in August. Six of them were accused of disrupting railway tracks, and the other five were accused of planting a bomb in a court.

President al-Sisi issued the October decree, Law 136 of 2014, in the absence of an elected parliament. The decree places all “public and vital facilities” under military jurisdiction for the next two years. Article 2, which officials are using to give the law retroactive effect, requires state prosecutors to refer any crimes committed at those venues to their military counterparts.

The Egyptian Observatory for Rights and Freedoms, a local-based activist group, on December 16 made public photocopies of a November 11 decision allegedly by Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat requiring prosecutors throughout the country to “compile and send any cases related to aforementioned crimes, at any stage (of investigations), to military prosecutors whenever asked to do so.” Article 95 of the Egyptian Constitution stipulates that penalties may “only be imposed for acts committed after the effective date of the law imposing it.”

“Militarizing the trials of civilians, including children, is taking Egypt in the wrong direction, and doing so retroactively compounds the abuse,” Whitson said.

The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, in interpreting the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (to which Egypt is a state party), has said that military courts “should not, in any circumstances whatsoever, have jurisdiction over civilians.”

According to article 93 of the Egyptian Constitution, the international human rights agreements, covenants, and conventions to which Egypt is a state party have the force of law.

Ahmed Helmy, a lawyer who has represented defendants before military courts in multiple cases, told Human Rights Watch that he believes that the authorities are acting unconstitutionally by retroactively applying the decree.

“President al-Sisi should repeal his October decree before more damage is done if he has any concern for preserving Egypt’s reputation and the new constitution he has sworn to protect,” Whitson said. “He should also annul all verdicts against civilians that military courts have handed down since his government took power and order their retrial before civil judges.”

Why Did the Wall Street Journal Bury the Merck Fraud Story?

It was big news when court documents were unsealed revealing a whistleblower lawsuit accusing drug giant Merck of fraud and lying about the true efficacy of its mumps vaccine. Just about every media, large and small, picked it up and the world was abuzz about the hundreds of millions of dollars the lawsuit claimed Merck had defrauded from the U.S. government.

The Wall Street Journal published the story in the form of a Dow Jones news release written by Jon Kamp on June  22, 2012, and links to the story began popping up on social media like Facebook.

Then, suddenly, the link to the story no longer worked, and if anyone clicked on the link in social media, it would show up "page not found." Apparently the story had been pulled, and when search engines and Internet archives wouldn't even show it, it looked as if it had never been published on the Journal's site at all. It was erased nearly clean--except for a small stock-watcher's website, 4Traders.com, which did a good job of erasing it from its main site but didn't catch it in the cache.

The question is, why did the WSJ pull the story and try to erase as if it never existed when there were actual court documents for evidence?

Is it possible that an event that occurred on June 251—three days after the story broke—could have influenced the story being pulled? On that day, the Wall Street Journal’s "elite" network of CFOs from the world’s top corporations met at the WSJ2. Merck is on that executive council3.

My team attempted to connect with the WSJ on this issue, but as of this time, we have not yet received an answer as to why this article was pulled. UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal replied to our inquiry on Tuesday July 24th at 3:12 PM CST.  The story has since been restored on their site, and they are looking into how the story was temporarily dropped.

Merck Accused of Falsifying Efficacy Studies and Lying about Effectiveness of Mumps Vaccine

Merck has actually been slapped with two class-action lawsuits over their mumps vaccine (which is part of the trivalent measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine). The first, which was initially filed in 2010, was unsealed late last month.

Two former Merck virologists, Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski, claim they witnessed first-hand the improper testing and falsification of data that was done to hide the fact that the vaccine has significantly declined in effectiveness4.

By artificially inflating the efficacy, Merck was able to maintain its monopoly over the mumps vaccine market—and that is the main point of contention of the second class-action lawsuit, filed by Chatom Primary Care5.

According to Courthouse News Service6:

"Merck has known for a decade that its mumps vaccine is "far less effective" than it tells the government, and it falsified test results and sold millions of doses of "questionable efficacy," flooding and monopolizing the market... Chatom says in its antitrust complaint that Merck falsely claims its mumps vaccine is 95 percent effective. That claim "deterred and excluded competing manufacturers," who would enter the risky and expensive vaccine market only if they believed they could craft a better product...

Merck is the only manufacturer licensed by the FDA to sell the mumps vaccine in United States, and if it could not show that the vaccine was 95 percent effective, it risked losing its lucrative monopoly...

That's why Merck found it critically important to keep claiming such a high efficacy rate, the complaint states. And, Chatom claims, that's why Merck went to great lengths, including "manipulating its test procedures and falsifying the test results," to prop up the bogus figure, though it knew that the attenuated virus from which it created the vaccine had been altered over the years during the manufacturing process, and that the quality of the vaccine had degraded as a result."

How Merck Faked and Manipulated Vaccine Trials to Achieve Desired Results

According to these two lawsuits, Merck began a sham testing program in the late 1990's to hide the declining efficacy of the vaccine. The objective of the fraudulent trials was to "report efficacy of 95 percent or higher regardless of the vaccine's true efficacy."

According to Krahling and Wlochowski’s complaint, they were threatened with jail were they to alert the FDA to the fraud being committed. The sham testing program was initially referred to as "Protocol 007," the Chatom anti-trust claim states. Suzanne Humphries recently wrote an excellent summary for GreenMedInfo.com7, explaining in layman's terms how the tests were manipulated8.

“For the new testing method, the children’s blood was tested for its ability to neutralize the virus using the vaccine strain virus, instead of the wild type strain that is much more infective, and the one that your children would most likely catch... But still it was not 95% effective. In order to make the blood pass the test, antibodies from rabbits was added. The addition of rabbit antibody increased the efficacy to 100%. But that was not the end, because the test has to be done on pre-vaccine blood and post-vaccine blood.

Just the addition of rabbit antibody made the pre-vaccine blood go from 10% positive to 80% positive and that was such an obvious sign of foul play that yet another manipulation had to be made.

The desired end result is to have very low pre-vaccine antibody and 95% or more post-vaccine efficacy as measured by antibody neutralization. So, yet one more change in procedure was made: The pre-vaccine tests were all redone... According to the Merck scientists, they did this by fabricating the "plaque" counts on the pre-vaccine blood samples, counting plaques that were not there. What this allowed was a mathematical dilution of the pre-vaccine positive blood counts.”

This is a perfect example of how medical research can be manipulated to achieve desired results, and why it may be wise to question vaccine makers’ study results. Clearly, there needs to be a truly independent review in the mix... As reported by the Courthouse News Service9:

“Chatom claims that the falsification of test results occurred" with the knowledge, authority and approval of Merck's senior management."

While I do not advocate indiscriminately abstaining from all vaccines, I strongly encourage you to exercise a major dose of due diligence as vaccines can cause serious reactions that can have devastating consequences. I believe in informed consent and the freedom to choose. There can be little doubt anymore that drug companies are in it for the profits, and virtually no price seems too high for them when it comes to protecting their profit-making.

When Words and Deeds Don’t Match, which is Closer to the Truth?

Forbes quoted a Merck spokesman saying10:

"Nothing is more important to Merck than the safety and effectiveness of our vaccines and medicines and the people who use them.".

Really?

Then WHY did they heavily promote Vioxx and keep it on the market until it had killed more than 60,000 people? I warned my readers that this pain killer might be a real killer for some people, five years before Merck made its $30 billion recall! Five years they let it go, and they undoubtedly would have kept it on the market longer had the lethal dangers not become so shockingly obvious to other scientists.

After Vioxx came the HPV vaccine Gardasil—perhaps the most unnecessary vaccine ever created, and likely one of the most dangerous to boot. Merck claims their main concern is safety, yet ever since Gardasil's approval in 2006, reports of life-altering side effects and sudden deaths of otherwise healthy teenagers have stacked up into the thousands, and Merck has steadfastlyrefused to acknowledge or address these health risks.

Gardasil appears to have one of the highest risk to benefit ratios of any vaccine on the market, and India even halted Merck's post-licensing trials of the vaccine after four young participants died, yet Merck has the gall to claim that nothing is more important to them than safety. Give me a break... Actions speak louder than words, and Merck has a long paper trail of litigation highlighting the company's questionable ethics.

More Censored News: MMR Vaccine Caused Autism, Italian Court Rules

These two lawsuits couldn't come at a more precarious time for Merck, as the Italian Health Ministry recently conceded theMMR vaccine caused autism in a now nine-year old boy. As a result, a court in Rimini, Italy has awarded the family a 15-year annuity totaling 174,000 Euros (just under $220,000), plus reimbursement for court costs, ruling that the boy "has been damaged by irreversible complications due to vaccination (prophylaxis trivalent MMR)."

According to The Daily Mail, a British paper11:

"Judge Lucio Ardigo, awarding compensation to the family... said it was 'conclusively established' that Valentino had suffered from an 'autistic disorder associated with medium cognitive delay' and his illness, as Dr Barboni stated, was linked to receiving the jab. Lawyer Mr Ventaloro explained yesterday: 'This is very significant for Britain which uses, and has used, an MMR vaccine with the same components as the one given to Valentino.

 'It is wrong for governments and their health authorities to exert strong pressure on parents to take children for the MMR jab while ignoring that this vaccine can cause autism and linked conditions.'

Claudio Simion, a leading member of the lobby group Association for Freedom of Choice in Vaccination (Comilva), adds: 'The Rimini judgment is vitally important for children everywhere. The numbers with autism are growing. It is a terrible thing that the authorities turn a blind eye to the connection between the MMR vaccination and this illness.'"

This vaccine-news story was not picked up by a single US media outlet when it happened! Why? Could it be because the US government, which is brimming with paid-off industry shills, is hellbent on protecting the vaccination program? Not because it's a marvelous panacea that promotes optimal health and longevity and can be defended with raw facts and first-class science, but because it's a major profit center, both for the vaccine makers and for those whose pockets are lined with Big Pharma bribes.

U.S. Varicella Vaccination Program Also Found to be a Total Flop

In related news, a recent review of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccination program in the US concluded that the vaccine efficacy had declined well below 80 percent by of 2002. Furthermore, the varicella vaccine has:

• Not proven to be cost-effective
• Increased the incidence of shingles
• Failed to provide long-term protection from the disease it targets―chicken pox―and
• Is less effective than the natural immunity that existed in the general population before the vaccine

The damning news was published in May in the journal Vaccine12, and lends additional support to the idea that the vaccine program is based on financial interests, not health, as serious side effects are routinely ignored and ineffective and/or harmful products continue to be used.  

The information was gathered from a review of chicken pox and shingles statistics in the years since the vaccine was introduced. The researchers point out that although statistics showed shingles rates increased after the vaccine, "CDC authorities still claimed" that no increase had occurred. The authors also state that the CDC not only ignored the natural boost in immunity to the community that occurred with wild chickenpox, as opposed to the vaccine, but also ignored the "rare serious events following varicella vaccination" as well as the increasing rates of shingles among adults:

"In the prelicensure era, 95% of adults experienced natural chickenpox (usually as children)—these cases were usually benign and resulted in long-term immunity. Varicella vaccination is less effective than the natural immunity that existed in prevaccine communities. Universal varicella vaccination has not proven to be cost-effective as increased herpes zoster [shingles] morbidity has disproportionately offset cost savings associated with reductions in varicella disease. Universal varicella vaccination has failed to provide long-term protection from VZV disease."

Get Informed Before You Vaccinate Yourself or Your Family

Stories such as these underscore the importance to take control of your own health, and that of your children. It's simply not wise to blindly depend on the information coming directly from the vaccine makers' PR departments, or from federal health officials and agencies that are mired in conflicts of interest with industry...

No matter what vaccination choices you make for yourself or your family, there is a basic human right to be fully informed about all risks of medical interventions and pharmaceutical products, like vaccines, and have the freedom to refuse if you conclude the benefits do not outweigh the risks for you or your child.

Unfortunately, the business partnership between government health agencies and vaccine manufacturers is too close and is getting out of hand. There is a lot of discrimination against Americans, who want to be free to exercise their human right to informed consent when it comes to making voluntary decisions about which vaccines they and their children use.

We cannot allow that to continue.

It's vitally important to know and exercise your legal rights and to understand your options when it comes to using vaccines and prescription drugs. For example, your doctor is legally obligated to provide you with the CDC Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) sheet and discuss the potential symptoms of side effects of the 

vaccination(s) you or your child receive BEFORE vaccination takes place. If someone giving a vaccine does not do this, it is a violation of federal law. Furthermore, the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 also requires doctors and other vaccine providers to:

• Keep a permanent record of all vaccines given and the manufacturer's name and lot number
• Write down serious health problems, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths that occur after vaccination in the patient's permanent medical record
• File an official report of all serious health problems, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following vaccination to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS)

If a vaccine provider fails to inform, record or report, it is a violation of federal law. It's important to get all the facts before making your decision about vaccination; and to understand that you have the legal right to opt out of using a vaccine that you do not want you or your child to receive. At present, all 50 states allow a medical exemption to vaccination (medical exemptions must be approved by an M.D. or D.O.); 48 states allow a religious exemption to vaccination; and 18 states allow a personal, philosophical or conscientious belief exemption to vaccination.

However, vaccine exemptions are under attack in a number of states, and it's in everyone's best interest to protect the right to make informed, voluntary vaccination decisions.

What You Can Do to Make a Difference

While it seems "old-fashioned," the only truly effective actions you can take to protect the right to informed consent to vaccination and expand your rights under the law to make voluntary vaccine choices, is to get personally involved with your state legislators and the leaders in your community.

Last but not least, if your pediatrician or doctor refuses to provide medical care to you or your child unless you agree to get vaccines you don't want, I strongly encourage you to have the courage to find another doctor. Harassment, intimidation, and refusal of medical care is becoming the modus operandi of the medical establishment in an effort to punish those patients and parents, who become truly educated about health and vaccination and want to make vaccine choices instead of being forced to follow risky one-size-fits-all vaccine policies.

If you are treated with disrespect or are harassed in any way by a doctor (or government official), do not engage in an unproductive argument. You may want to contact an attorney, your elected state representatives or local media, if you or your child are threatened.

That said, there is hope.

At least 15 percent of young doctors recently polled admit that they're starting to adopt a more individualized approach to vaccinations in direct response to the vaccine safety concerns of parents. It is good news that there is a growing number of smart young doctors, who prefer to work as partners with parents in making personalized vaccine decisions for children, including delaying vaccinations or giving children fewer vaccines on the same day or continuing to provide medical care for those families, who decline use of one or more vaccines.

So take the time to locate and connect with a doctor who treats you with compassion and respect and is willing to work with you to do what is right for your child, and isn't just competing for government incentives designed to increase vaccination rates at any cost.
