Freedom and Justice Party Legal Committee: Commissioners Decision Not Binding
October 7,2013
FJP affirms that the Commissioners’ recommendation to dissolve the largest popular party in the country is an escalation of exclusion endeavors by the military-appointed regime.
A source in the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)'s Legal Committee said that the decision by the State Affairs Council’s College of Commissioners on the dissolution of the party can only be deemed a non-binding recommendation to the court.
The same source added that the FJP’s Legal Committee will consider the legal merits of this recommendation, and then respond to them accordingly.
"We will defend the legal position of the party, which was founded on the true essence of the rule of law and did not commit any offense to cause any court to issue orders to disband it."
Separately, Hamza Zawbaa, FJP leading member, described recent maneuvers as an attempt to further exclude the Egyptian people, and not just the Muslim Brotherhood, from the political sphere, "The putschists are moving their coup tools to counter constitutional legitimacy"
